Reality star turned cosmetics entrepreneur set to become world's youngest "self-made" billionaire, according to projections by Forbes.
According to Forbes, Kylie is worth an estimated $900 million. Along with her reality TV show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," and endorsements deals from Puma and PacSun, Kylie Cosmetics is credited for helping to build most of Kylie's net worth, which has already generated an estimated $230 million in net profit this year and is valued at $800m (£605m).
With another year of growth, Kylie, who turns 21 in August, will become the youngest "self-made" billionaire ever, surpassing Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who became a billionaire at 23.
Many on social media took issue with labeling Kylie Jenner "self-made."
Jenner's elder sister, Kim Kardashian West, came to the defense of Kylie, saying she didn't understand where the shade was coming from.
Kim told fashion website Refinery29 "I really didn’t get it, because she is self-made — we are all self-made. What, because we came from a family that has had success? To me, that doesn’t really make sense, I know so many people like that haven’t turned out to be as successful as Kylie. If anything, It has been the complete opposite".
In 2014 and 2015, Time magazine listed the Jenner sisters on their list of the most influential teens in the world, citing their considerable influence among teens on social media. As of 2018, Kylie has over 100 million followers, she is one of the top 10 most followed people on Instagram.
